…temporarily. Facebook, Twitter, blogging, and other social media have started to take up a significant role in my life, and I’ve decided to give it all a rest for a while. There are mainly two reasons for doing this. It’s taking up valuable time. As a father and husband, my family time is priceless. When I sit at a meal with my wife and I’m staring at my phone checking my Facebook messages and notifications, I’m losing valuable moments that … →

I’ve talked to lots of people through the years about websites. I spoken to many people who have never even thought of the idea of having a website for their church, let alone any specific ministry. However, statistics show that when someone who is new to town is looking for a church, they will 95% of the time turn to the internet. That being said, your website says everything about your church to a potential visitor. You could have the … →

Got my brand new iPhone 4 case today as part of Apple’s iPhone 4 Case Program. Granted, I already had a case that I’d bought when I started to notice the signal issues. Honestly, I didn’t really like the one I had. This one, however, is made by INCASE, a company from which I’ve bought numerous cases. From guitar cases to laptop bags, they’ve got it all, and they do a bang-up job making some solid gear.
Being an avid Apple fan (my Apple products have included a Macbook, an iMac, iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, and numerous iPods), needless to say I was interested in what had become the most anticipated piece of technology since the iPhone, the Apple iPad. I’ve gotta tell you – I’m mostly underwhelmed. In my mind, I wanted a device that was basically a Macbook with a multi-touch, swivel screen, a la most tablet computers. I anticipated Apple to beef up the computing … →

One of the reasons I’m such a proponent of Twitter is that I’m oddly interested in what people are doing. It helps me evaluate the current state of culture. Before there was Twitter, though, I was using Facebook, mainly to just check the status updates of my friends. I’ve noticed that there are several categories of Facebook status messages, and I’d like to outline them for you here. There are good ways and boring ways to use these, and I’m … →

One of the constant struggles of bloggers is how to effectively cross-promote your blog over various social networking and blogging venues. My favorite of these sites, Facebook, has now added the ability to import your current blog to your “notes” section on your Facebook page. This is a GREAT tool, as now I’ll never again have to post the same thing in two places. So if you’d do me a favor, please post a comment to this on Facebook so … →
