As I’ve just finished the entire Lynda.com training course on After Effects CS5.5, I’m neck deep in the world of motion graphics. While scouring the web for inspiration, I found this fantastic little work of “kinetic typography” by Vit Ryznar. It should also be noted that this was Vit’s first attempt at this type of animation, and he composed the music himself. Check it out. #11: Thou shalt not be envious of how cool this video is.
Why Lightning McQueen? Keep reading… I stumbled upon a 3-year-old entry from my old blog that I wrote while leading my first ski retreat with my youth back in 2008. I thought it was interesting to see where my mind was at that time, and thought I’d share it with you. This is from January 20, 2008. I had only two kids (HUH?) at the time, and was still fairly fresh to youth ministry. As I sit here on the … →

First off, let me say this: I’m SOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited. Those of you who know me will probably know that I like to occasionally grow out my beard, just to see how long my wife will let it get before she changes my name from “Babe” to “Hey, homeless!” I was able to go from Thanksgiving of last year until around mid-January this year before she made me lose it. This year, however, I’m growing it again, and for good reason. … →

One of the reasons I’m such a proponent of Twitter is that I’m oddly interested in what people are doing. It helps me evaluate the current state of culture. Before there was Twitter, though, I was using Facebook, mainly to just check the status updates of my friends. I’ve noticed that there are several categories of Facebook status messages, and I’d like to outline them for you here. There are good ways and boring ways to use these, and I’m … →
